W4497 WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 SRC; Standard 20 inch carbine configuration chambered in 44 CF caliber. Bore is dark with scattered roughness throughout. Sights include a blade front that is integral to the barrel band and a folding two-leaf rear that has been modified. Winchester barrel address is mostly visible but faint. Barrel and full length magazine tube are a mottled plum/brown patina. Brass receiver has aged to a dark patina with numerous dings and scratches from usage on the frontier in the Wild West. Bolt has been converted to Centerfire. Hammer and lever are mostly a light brown with some gray. Loading gate is dark blue. Original saddle ring is present. Smooth functioning action. Walnut stock set has been refinished and has numerous dings and handling mars. Brass carbine buttplate matches the receiver. This 1866 carbine was made in 1874 and looks like it has a story to tell.
