W4424 ANTIQUE SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER 1894 SHORT RIFLE IN CALIBER 32-40;This Winchester 1894 Short Rifle in caliber 32-40 is an exceptional example of a scarce and special-ordered antique firearm. According to Madis serial number data, it is confirmed as an antique. The rifle features a 22-inch half-octagon barrel and a half-length magazine, with a nice bore and good rifling. The metal retains about 30% of its original blue finish, with the remaining areas thinned to a grey-brown, showing just light patches of pitting.The sights include a beaded blade front sight and an adjustable sporting rear sight. According to Armax Its production statistics indicate that only 2,252 rifles out of the first 353,999 Model 1894 records had a 22-inch barrel, making this configuration quite rare. Additionally, only 26,579 had a half magazine, 13,703 had pistol grip stocks, and 17,768 had a shotgun butt, underscoring the uniqueness of this particular rifle.The forearm and stock are in very good condition and were professionally upgraded with attractive, deluxe-style, spade-pattern checkering.
