Description

R2428 REMINGTON NO. 1 F GRADE ROLLING BLOCK TARGET RIFLE; 29-1/4 inch part round barrel that has been re-chambered in 45-70 caliber with a bright shiny near excellent bore. Sights include wind gauge target front and while the rear is missing it does have a newer more modern folding tang sight with aperture disc. The barrel has been re-chambered to 45-70 caliber and the muzzle has been target-crowned and may have been shortened to it’s current length. It is a dull gray patina and does have some vise “bite” marks on the octagon part of the barrel. The receiver action and trigger guard have aged to a  lightly mottled pewter case-hardened patina. Also showing some tool marks around the patent dates. Matching serial numbers on the barrel and forend and lower tang. Checkered walnut forend has a hard rubber tip while the checkered pistolgrip stock has a horn insert. Wood looks good with a few scattered handling mars. The F Grade was the highest grade offered by Remington in their Mid-Range Target Rifles, and according to Remington historian Roy Marcot, were among the finest sporting and target rifles of their day.
