MR1712 FANTASTIC SHARPS 1874 No. 1 CREEDMOOR SINGLE SHOT RIFLE CHAMBERED IN 44-90 Bottleneck; 34 inch tapered octagon barrel measures 13/16 inch across flats at muzzle, and retains over 95% blue showing faint edge wear & small marks. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny with strong rifling. Sights include a wind gauge globe front, a serial number matching long range Vernier tang sight along with a second sight base mounted at rear of comb for Creedmoor/back position shooting. The color case hardened action shows about 70% lightly faded finish, and features a checkered plain trigger. The walnut pistol grip buttstock and schnable tipped forearm feature wraparound checkering with additional coverage on the schnable end and heal of the pistol grip. Fitted with a checkered steel buttplate, the stocks have good finish showing very light wear with minimal handling marks. Includes several letters of correspondence including those w/ RL Moore & Dr. Richard J. Lebowskie between 1974 & 2003 that confirm the features of this rifle. Also included are documentations of comparable past auction sales. A rare gun in fine condition overall!
