MERZ35 CASED PAIR OF J. MANTON SMALL PERCUSSION RIFLES; These half stock rifles have 24-1/2 inch barrels. Each one weighs only 3 pounds 3 ounces. Very delicate unusual guns.
Both rifles have scroll work engraving. Each patch box has a unique tiger scene. Wood is nicely checkered and in good condition. Barrels have turned a plum brown color. Breech, locks and patch box have turned a dark patina with traces of case color. Buttplate and trigger guard retain strong fire blue finish. Adjustable English style sights. German silver forend caps, ovals and thumb plates. The Walnut case has brass corners and handle and are outfitted with bullet molds, cruciform multi tool and powder flasks. Barrels have iron ramrods fitted underneath.
I have had these for years in my personal collection. I hope the next person enjoys them as much as I did. Just a beautiful little “child sized” pair of rifles!
