MHG886 FACTORY ENGRAVED METROPOLITAN COMPANY CASED POLICE MODEL REVOLVER; 36 caliber. This presentation revolver comes with a large volume of material showing the guns history with the family of Y.S. Walter. It was originally owned by the famous “Great Scout” Kit Carson who presented it to his close friend Lt. E.F Beal. Lt. Beal in turn gave it to the Honorable Y.S. Walter. I have followed this gun for years as it was passed around. I believe everything about it is correct. Gun retains about 90% of a dark silver finish. Ivory grips are in fine condition. Elaborately engraved and looks a lot like a 53′ Colt Pocket revolver. Engraving is believed to be the work of L.D. Nimschke. 4-1/2 inch barrel. Only about 2,750 of these were manufactured between 1864-1866 and only about 1,600 had marked barrels. Out of this number only a small portion were cased and even fewer were engraved and plated making this a very rare specimen. This is an interesting important piece of Americana.
ANTIQUE $ 13,750.
