MHG1119 SMITH & WESSON 3RD MODEL TARGET PISTOL IN 22 LR; The Smith & Wesson Third Model Single Shot Pistol is also known as the Perfected Target Pistol and features a top-break action and 10 inch solid-rib barrel. Chambered in 22 LR caliber with a bright shiny excellent bore. This one has been shortened to 7 inches and fitted with a larger diameter sleeve to add weight. Sights include a large blade front and adjustable “U”-notch rear. The barrel sleeve retains about half the blue with some edge wear toning to pewter gunmetal patina while the remaining surfaces of the barrel and frame retain most all original blue with some light flaking and edge wear. Barrel address retains strong two-line address and patent dates. The hammer and trigger show older reapplied straw color. The checkered walnut target grips with silver S&W medallions are very good with a few scattered light dings. Nice functioning action. These were made from 1909 until 1923. They were widely utilized in U.S. Revolver Association competitions and chosen by American and foreign competitors in international and Olympic-style target events during the early 20th century due to the high inherent accuracy of its single-shot lock-up.
