MHG1116 COLT MODEL 1902 PHILIPPINE CONSTABULARY REVOLVER IN 45 COLT; The U.S. Model 1902 Philippine Constabulary is a double action revolver made by Colt based on the earlier Colt Model 1878 and features a 6 inch round barrel chambered in 45 Colt caliber with a bright shiny near excellent bore. The barrel and frame retain a good amount of blue showing some bright blue in the protected areas and worn areas toning to pewter gray patina with scattered dings and handling marks. There are some tool marks along barrel as well. The cylinder has toned to a gunmetal gray patina with some scattered mild pitting. The loading gate is numbered to the gun. The cylinder is numbered “534”. Barrel is unnumbered. The frame has a “J.T.T.” inspector stamp while the enlarged trigger guard has an “R.A.C.” inspector stamp. The revolver is missing the lanyard with the hole being vacant. The checkered hard rubber birds head grips with Rampant Colt are very good with some scattered handling marks and a smooth spot on the right-side checkering. The action will need some mechanical attention as the hammer does not hold at half cock nor fully retract in double action. The action does appear to function in single action. Roughly 4,600 units were contracted by the U.S. Army to arm the newly formed Philippine Constabulary that was established in 1901 and required a reliable sidearm with heavier knockdown capability. A desirable Colt with some honest wear that is sure to fill a hole your Colt collection.
