W4530 RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 RIFLE IN 38-70 WCF WITH 28 INCH BARREL; 28 inch octagon barrel chambered in the rare 38-70 WCF caliber with a dark bore showing scattered light roughness and visible rifling. Sights include a beaded blade front with sporting rear and a Lyman folding tang. Barrel and full length magazine tube are a blue/brown patina. Forend cap is a brown color. Casehardened receiver has slight traces of color in the protected areas with the balance having turned brown with some surface corrosion. Hammer and lever have traces of case colors. Faded blue on the loading gate.Special order Set Trigger that works. Crisp functioning action. Walnut stock set has an age darkened appearance with some handling mars and a rifle style buttplate. A very rare caliber as only 830 were produced and with the extra length barrel and set trigger this configuration should fill a hole in someones Winchester collection. This one was made in 1894 which is the first year for this caliber. Comes with a copy of a Cody Firearms letter stating the configuration and date of manufacture.
