W4742 SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 DELUXE CARBINE IN 30-40 KRAG [M]

$9,500.00

W4742 SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 DELUXE CARBINE IN 30-40 KRAG; The Winchester Model 1895 Deluxe Carbine is a rare variation of the Model 1895. While standard Model 1895 saddle ring carbines featured plain walnut stocks and 22-inch round barrels the “Deluxe” configurations were special-order items that feature upgraded highly figured checkered walnut stocks and customized sight arrangements such as Lyman receiver sights. This one features a 22 inch round barrel chambered in the popular 30-40 Krag caliber with a bright shiny bore. Sights include a No. 53B pinned blade front with a 50-A ladder rear and a Lyman No. 41 receiver sight. Most all barrel blue remains. Receiver also retains most original blue with some thinning to gray at the rear top of the frame. Bolt still has most all original blue as well. 5 round box magazine has a good amount of blue toning to brown on the bottom. Hammer has traces of case colors. Lever and barrel band as well as the buttplate still have most thinning blue remaining. Fancy checkered straight grip walnut stock and forearm are in very good condition with an oil finish. Cleaning kit is still in the trapdoor in the carbine style buttplate. Crisp functioning action. Comes with a copy of a Cody Research Form stating configuration and caliber as well as the 1900 manufacture date. Most Deluxe 1895 configurations were built on sporting rifle or takedown frames rather than the shorter carbine barrel band setup thus making authentic deluxe carbines exceedingly difficult to find. Add this seldom seen Winchester to your collection today.
