$3,725.00

W4684 WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL RIFLE IN 32-40 CALIBER; 30 inch No. 3 weight nickel steel round barrel chambered in 32-40 caliber with a bright shiny excellent bore. The front and rear sight dovetails have blanks and the barrel is fitted with a pair of scope blocks that mount a J. Stevens No. 141 rifle scope. The notch in the front ring is not quite in the correct position for the screw on the scope. Optics with crosshair reticle are pretty clear. Barrel retains most of a reapplied polished blue drifting to a slight plum tone. Refinished receiver also retains most of that reapplied finish. The lever, breech block and hammer have a good amount of case colors remaining. Action with double set triggers functions very well mechanically. Walnut Schnabel forend with ebony tip insert has been refinished long ago and shows some scattered light handling mars. Walnut capped pistolgrip buttstock is in good condition with minor handling mars and has a comb line that is raised slightly with a very professionally added piece of walnut that is nicely contoured and only visible upon very close inspection. There is a very fine crack behind lower tang to the grip cap. A Swiss-style buttplate has a nickel finish. This Winchester High Wall was made in 1909 and should likely still be a good shooter at the range.
