W4509 WINCHESTER 1873 SECOND MODEL RIFLE IN 38 WCF; 24 inch octagon barrel chambered in 38 WCF caliber with a shiny bore with strong rifling. Sights include a German silver blade front and sporting rear. Barrel has about 50% thinning blue with the full length magazine tube turning a plum/brown color. Receiver has good blue with some flaking and turning brown. Faint traces of case colors on the hammer and lever. Some blue on the loading gate. Crisp functioning action. Walnut forearm has been lightly sanded and refinished while the stock retains some original varnish that has darkened coming off the frame. Most likely from oil staining. Rifle style buttplate with no cleaning rod in the trapdoor. Complete with factory letter verifying configuration and 1881 manufacture date.
