W4023 WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 RIFLE IN 45-75 CALIBER; Special order 45-75 caliber rifle with extra length 30 inch octagon barrel and set trigger. Today however the barrel is 29-1/2 inches and appears the full length magazine tube has been shorted a 1/2 inch as well. Dark worn bore with visible rifling. Barrel and mag tube are a plum/brown patina as well as the forend cap. Sights include a German silver blade front and an “1876” marked folding ladder rear as well as a Mid-Range folding tang sight. Set Trigger that works. Receiver has about 40% blue with small patches of light oxidation. Second Model “Thumbprint” dust cover. Good traces of case colors on the hammer and lever. It has a replacement deluxe walnut forearm with extra figure and worn checkering. Straight grain walnut stock is in fine condition with minor dings and scratches. Crescent rifle style buttplate. Mechanically excellent. This Second Model 1876 rifle was made in 1878.
