W3874 RARE WINCHESTER 1873 3RD MODEL EXTRA HEAVY BARREL RIFLE IN CALIBER 44 WCF; Special order 2 inches longer than standard 26 inch Extra Heavy octagon barrel chambered in 44 WCF caliber. It measures 1 inch across the flats at the muzzle. Bore has shine and good rifling with scattered light pits. German silver blade front and a Marbles adjustable full buckhorn rear sight. Barrel has good blue on the left side and some pitting on the right side that could be the result of poor storage. Overall metal is a gray/brown color. Traces of case colors on the hammer. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock have a dark appearance and there is a long crack on the forearm left side along the barrel. crescent rifle style buttplate.  Features scarce single set trigger that functions properly. Comes with a Cody Firearms Museum Research form. A very rare barrel in the desirable 44-40 caliber to fill a hole in your collection.
