MR1791 HAMILTON No. 27 BOYS RIFLE IN 22RF CALIBER; The Hamilton No. 27 is a single shot break open youth rifle and features a 15 inch round barrel chambered in 22 RF caliber with a good lightly frosted bore with visible rifling. (Unsuitable for modern high-velocity .22 Long Rifle ammunition). Original open sights include a blade front with V-notch rear. The barrel and frame have toned to an uneven brown/gray patina overall. The left side of the frame is marked “THE HAMILTON RIFLE No27 22 CAL. / PATENTED OCT. 30. 1900 OTHERS PENDING / MFD. BY THE HAMILTON RIFLE Co / of PLYMOUTH, MICH. U.S.A.”. The  smooth hardwood straight grip stock and forearm are in very good condition although the forearm is a little loose. Over half a million of the Model 27 rifles were manufactured by C.J. Hamilton & Son in Plymouth, Michigan, from 1906 until World War II. They originally retailed for about $1.00 to $3.00 in the early 1900s.
