MR1780 U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1884 TRAPDOOR SRC; 22 inch round barrel chambered in 45-70 caliber with a very good bore with strong 3 groove rifling and a small patch of minor oxidation. Sights include a pinned blade front and a “C” marked 1879 rear. Barrel is a a freckled gray patina with faint markings. Breech block is a dark gray-brown patina and is marked “U.S.Model 1884”. Lockplate is also a freckled or mottled gray/brown patina with no visible markings. The walnut stock looks very good with some scattered dings and handling marks. A faint cartouche is present and dated 1887. There is also a “65 / U” with the stock “P” in a circle proof mark behind the trigger guard. There are no cleaning rods or shell extractor in the butt. Mechanically appears function well..
