Description
MR1357 N. CURRY & BRO MARKED SAN FRANCISCO HALF STOCK PERCUSSION RIFLE; 32 inch octagon barrel chambered in about a 45 caliber. Barrel is mostly a brown/gray patina and marked “N. Curry & Bro”. Sights include a blade front and a flattop notch rear. Tang is tapped for a peep sight. Lock is marked “N. Curry & Bro” over “SAN FRANCISCO.” Double set trigger. There is a “7” at the breech and on the underside of the lock. Wood has been lightly cleaned and is still in fine condition with a cheek piece. Brass buttplate. Wooden ramrod. A good looking example of a California rifle. Nathaniel and John Curry inherited their brother Charles’ business upon his death in 1863. This gun is pictured on page 77 of The California Gunsmiths by Sheldon.
