MHG1090 ENGRAVED EUROPEAN FLINTLOCK POCKET PISTOL WITH FIGURAL “MOOR’S HEAD” CARVED POMMEL; The 4-1/2 inch iron barrel is somewhat ornate having brass inlays alternating between ribs and a series of rings out to the muzzle. Features engraved brass lockplate and other furnishings. The stock features a carved Moor’s head pommel. See pages 478-479 of “The Visser Collection, Vol. 1, Part 4” by G. de Vries and B.J. Martens where it is listed as from c. 1750. Inventory number “1046” in white on the left of the wrist. Condition is Fine overall as partially restored with mostly silver gray patina on the iron, attractive aged patina on the brass, general mild wear, traces of repaired cracks along the stock, and distinct carving. Mechanically fine.
