M1146 EAGLE HEAD MOUNTED ARTILLERY OFFICER’S SABER; 33 inch unmarked curved blade that is etched and gilded with floral motifs, the Federal Eagle and some other arms symbols on a blued background. About 60% bright blue finish remains toning to a brown patina with scattered light oxidation and some very fine pitting along the spine. Etching retains about 95% original gold gilt thinning lightly. The gilded brass hilt has an eagle head pommel. A D-shaped guard with a grooved bone grip with double bordered braided brass wire. The guard and pommel have become a little loose over time. This is a good looking mounted artillery officer’s saber that does show some use.
