$8,475.00

C471 COLT U.S. MARKED THIRD MODEL DRAGOON PERCUSSION REVOLVER IN 44 CALIBER; 7-1/2 inch round and part octagon barrel chambered in 44 caliber with a darkened bore with very visible rifling. Sights include a German silver blade front with a desirable three-leaf rear. The left side of the “Four-Screw” frame has the “U.S.” marking. The metal surfaces are good overall with mostly a mixed grey and brown antiqued patina. The brass trigger guard has a nice darkened patina as well. The well-worn walnut grip has some minor dings, chips, and scratches with a faint but visible cartouche on the left side. Mechanically functions. The Third Model has a rounded trigger guard and rectangle shaped cylinder stops. The Third Model also introduced options for attaching a detachable shoulder stock (via slots cut into the recoil shield/frame and a screw attachment) of which only 1,200- 1,500 were cut for shoulder stocks thus turning the heavy revolver into a short-barreled carbine. About 10,500 of these 3rd Models were made from 1851-1861 and this one was made in 1858. Sometimes called the Model of Colt’s Horse Pistol.
