C459 BRITISH RETAILER E.M. REILLY INSCRIBED COLT THUER DERRINGER; 41 caliber 3rd Model derringer with nickel finish and a bright bore. These derringers were introduced in 1870 and manufactured until 1912. About 48,000 were produced. The top of the 2-3/4 inch barrel has a rounded blade front sight and “COLT” in large italic letters. The bottom of the barrel has small British proofs. The caliber marking is on the left of the frame along with a “C” and the Rampant Colt. The right side of the frame is retailer inscribed “E.M. REILLY & Co. LONDON.” Condition is very good overall with some light flaking on the barrel. Mechanically very good. The numbered to the gun antique Ivory grips are in good shape with just a small chip out of the right side. Comes with a cleaning rod/screwdriver. Sits nicely in an earlier produced replacement leatherette wrapped case. On the top is a large silver plaque that is inscribed “Presented to/PERCY H. POUND/ON HIS 21st BIRTHDAY/by the heads of the/various departments/of JOHN POUND & Co./August 11 1891“. John Pound is the oldest luggage brand in the world. The company began it’s life in the City of London in 1823 offering hand crafted leather goods and is still in operation today.
