46 Caliber. 11,XXX serial number range. 26 inch octagon barrel. Only approximately 1,100 1853 sporting rifles were made in this configuration. Overall gun is in excellent condition with a considerable amount of original blue remaining on the barrel starting to turn a plummish brown coloration. Receiver has turned mostly dark but still has traces of case colors remaining. Excellent bore. Original sights. Original wood has a few minor dings but retains most of its original varnish. Complete with an iron patchbox and a pewter forend cap with double set triggers. All matching numbers. Excellent and all original throughout.
