$7,850.00

C487 COLT MODEL 1871-72 OPEN TOP REVOLVER IN 44 RF CALIBER; 7-1/2 inch round barrel chambered in 44 Rim Fire caliber with a good bore that has visible rifling and a few scattered spots of pitting. Sights include a German silver blade front and the Richards-Mason style integral notch rear at the breech. The “ADDRESS COL. SAM COLT, NEW YORK, U.S. AMERICA” barrel address is clearly visible. Screws all look pretty good. The action binds occasionally but it is otherwise mechanically fine. Metal surfaces appear very good with traces of a period retailer applied nickel plating and the balance a mottled gray and brown patina. This Colt features the Army Grip frame which borrowed from the Colt 1860 Army percussion model. The refinished walnut grip is very good with light scratches and a hairline crack. This one has an authentic “frontier used” appearance overall. These are scarce as only about 7,000 Model 1871-1872 Open Top revolvers were manufactured from 1871-1872 and are quite desirable as these were the forerunner to the Single Action Army.
