$10,750.00

C435 COLT MODEL 1871-1872 OPEN TOP SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH HOLSTER; 7-1/2 inch round barrel chambered in 44 Rim Fire caliber with a good bore that is frosted with some light spots of oxidation and distinct rifling. Sights include a German silver blade front and the Richards-Mason style integral notch rear at the breech. The “ADDRESS COL. SAM COLT, NEW YORK, U.S. AMERICA” barrel address is visible. The screws all look pretty good. About 40% of the period retailer applied nickel finish remains with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey patina some spots of scattered light pitting. Colt’s patent marking is on the left of the frame. The brass shows an attractively aged patina with traces of the original silver plating. This Colt features the Army Grip frame which borrowed from the Colt 1860 Army percussion model. The weathered but attractive antique ivory grip is in very good condition showing hairline age cracks and an attractively aged tone. Mechanically excellent. Comes with a tooled leather “Slim Jim” California pattern holster with some age related cracking. This holster style was popular on the frontier during the period that this revolver would have been in use. Only about 7,000 Model 1871-1872 Open Top revolvers were manufactured from 1871-1872 and are quite desirable as these were the forerunner to the Single Action Army.
