W4743 SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 RIFLE WITH 30 INCH BARREL IN 38-55; Rare special ordered 30 inch round barrel chambered in 38-55 caliber with a bright shiny near excellent bore. Sights include a Beeches combination front with a blank in the rear and a Lyman folding tang with one inch disc aperture. Most all thinning original barrel blue remains as well as the on the full length magazine tube. Receiver has thinning blue with some toning to brown at the carry point. Good amount of nitre blue on the loading gate as well as traces of case colors on the hammer and lever. Straight grain walnut stock set are in good condition with some traces of original varnish remaining along with some minor handling marks. Crescent steel rifle style buttplate. Crisp functioning action. Extra-long 30-inch barrels on early Model 1894 rifles are uncommon and highly sought after. The special order sights and extra length barrel with increased the sight radius and excellent bore should make this one a fine shooter. This hard to find Winchester was manufactured in 1908. This one is sure to fill a hole in your 1894 collection!
