MHG1114 GERMAN P.08 LUGER PISTOL BY ERFURT IN 9 MM; The P.08 Luger pistol manufactured by the Royal Prussian Rifle Factory at Erfurt (Kaiserliche Gewehrfabrik Erfurt) is a prominent WW1 German sidearm. Erfurt produced these toggle-action 9mm handguns from roughly 1911 to 1918 and stamping the toggle link with a distinctive crowned “ERFURT” word mark on the middle toggle link and extensive Gothic inspection/proof letters (Crown over Gothic letter) on nearly every small component. Imperial Erfurt pistols are famous for meticulous internal serial numbering the small parts typically carry the last digits of the main serial number. The Toggle-locked, Recoil-operated Semi-automatic pistol features a round barrel that is just under 4 inches and is chambered in 9 mm caliber with a bright shiny near excellent bore. Standard open sights include a blade front and V-notch rear. The metal surfaces of this 1918-dated pistol retain most all of the blue finish with light wear on high points. The small parts have toned to a silvery patina and the sear spring has toned to plum. The checkered walnut grips are in very good condition with a few light dings and a small chip absent below the safety and both panels are unnumbered. The metal markings are intact and clear with “(Crown) / Erfurt” on the toggle and the expected numerous Imperial German proofs with additional “(Crown) / RC” stamps on the receiver, frame, and barrel, and the numbered parts are matching to the pistol. Included is a bright-bodied wood base removable single-stack 8-round magazine that is numbered to the pistol. Appears to function well mechanically. An honest looking Erfurt Luger for your collection.
