MHG1113 GERMAN P.08 LUGER POLICE PISTOL BY DWM IN 9 MM; The German P.08 Luger police pistol manufactured by DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken) typically refers to the Weimar-era or reworked WW1 military Lugers adopted for municipal and state police forces under the strict limits of the Treaty of Versailles. After World War I, Germany could not produce standard military handguns so the existing DWM Lugers were reassigned and retrofitted for law enforcement. Law enforcement models often received a sear safety and sometimes a magazine safety. The Toggle-locked, Recoil-operated Semi-automatic pistol features a round barrel that is just under 4 inches and is chambered in 9 mm caliber with a bright shiny excellent bore. Standard open sights. The metal surfaces retain most all of a factory-quality restored blue with some light wear and thinning along the backstrap, otherwise it looks very good. The toggle pins and the sear spring have bright vibrant fire blue. The checkered walnut grips are in very good condition with some light handling marks and both panels are numbered “60”. The markings remain clear with the DWM monogram on the toggle, the chamber area unmarked, “(Crown) / N” on the left side of the receiver with lightly softened Imperial German firing proofs on the right side and barrel, the underside of the barrel is stamped with a likely Police depot “Dr” above a now illegible Waffenamt and all the numbered parts are matching the pistol. Appears to function well mechanically. Included is a bright-bodied 8 round capacity aluminum-base magazine with the base numbered “3621 / f”. A nice example of a reworked Police Luger for your collection.
