C441 ANTIQUE COLT SAA SHERIFFS MODEL IN 45 CAL SHIPPED TO HOUSTON, TEXAS; Black powder frame Colt features a 3-1/2 inch round barrel chambered in 45 LC caliber with good visible rifling and some scattered roughness. The Sheriff’s Model came without ejectors and ejector housings. Most were produced in 45 LC as was this one. The metal surfaces are mostly a smooth gray patina with some spots of light pitting and traces of the original nickel plated finish on the hammer and under the grips. Hard rubber eagle grips are slightly worn but fit well. Action functions. Serial number manufacture date of 1887. Comes with a factory letter stating the caliber and barrel length as well as the nickel finish and shipped to Commings and Geisler in Houston, Texas on April 17, 1890 with one other gun in the shipment. Cummings & Geisler was a notable Houston dealer especially for unique short-barreled Sheriff’s Model Single Action Army revolvers in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Only about 1,500 of these ejector less revolvers were made. An opportunity to add one of these hard to find Colts to your collection.
