W4445 FIRST MODEL WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 RIFLE IN 44 WCF; 24 inch round barrel chambered in 44 WCF caliber with a bore that shows strong rifling and a few scattered pits. Barrel is a chocolate brown patina while the full length magazine tube has a bit more blue remaining. Sights include an ivory beaded blade front and sporting rear. Receiver is a plum/brown patina with traces of blue showing through in the protected areas. Hammer and lever are brown with traces of case colors showing through. Nice functioning action. Walnut stocks are in good condition.Forend has a few very hairline cracks as does the buttstock. Crescent style rifle buttplate. This example of “The Gun That Won The West” was made in 1875.
