W4134 WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SPECIAL ORDER RIFLE CHAMBERED IN 45-90; 26 inch round barrel that shows about 70% finish with light wear and handling marks. Near excellent bore that is bright and shiny with decent rifling. Original Winchester Express front and 3 Leaf Express rear sights. Half Magazine. Color Case Hardened receiver shows about 60% colors ranging from vibrant too lightly faded with some areas taking on a mottled nickel appearance. Barrel and receiver have British proof marks. Walnut stocks are solid and fit decent with an old coat of finish added now showing wear and handling marks. Features a smooth steel shotgun style buttplate. Comes with a Factory Letter showing it was manufactured in 1887 with a round barrel in 38/56, a plain trigger, Winchester Express sights, a 1/2 magazine and a Shotgun butt. The letter also shows that it was “returned to the factory by James Kerr and Company” when it was changed to 45-90 and shipped back September 15, 1890. An honest looking hunting rifle.
