W4013 BEAUTIFUL WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 DLX RIFLE IN DESIRABLE 405 WCF; 24 inch tapered round barrel chambered in the desirable 405 WCF caliber with a bright shiny excellent bore. Sights include a Lyman beaded blade front and a sporting rear with a Lyman receiver sight. Most all thinning barrel blue remains with some minor freckling. Receiver also has most all of its factory refinished blue with just a little flaking on the top of the bolt. Strong vibrant case colors on the hammer. Crisp action. Very fine walnut stocks show extra figure as well as checkering with only a few minor dings. Hard rubber shotgun butt. This is an interesting rifle as it was made in 1903 which is the first year for the 405 WCF caliber. According to the Research Form this rifle went back to the factory 4 different times for Repair and Return. This would explain the factory oval Proof marks on  the barrel and frame. There is a “J.P.P.” marking on the upper tang for James P. Parker who was a Winchester factory worker that did barrel work. It is believed that during these trips back to the factory are when it was transformed into the current deluxe configuration. This is a beautiful looking hard to find deluxe 405 caliber Winchester Model 1895 rifle!
