W1170 RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 20 JUNIOR TRAP SHOOTING OUTFIT ; Back in the spring of 1920, Winchester came out with their new Junior Trapshooting Outfit. It was popular then and that popularity has carried over to modern day collectors.The Junior Trapshooting Outfit was featured on the cover of The Winchester Record (Dec. 17, 1920). This was a bi-weekly magazine published by the Winchester personnel department. “The new Winchester .410 Shotgun is manufactured with all the care and accuracy that have made its big brothers in the Winchester family World Standard. It has a strong, simple action and is of the single shot break-down type. The stock is a beautifully finished product of the pistol grip style and has a remarkably fine fit and “feel.” This gun is light, easy to handle, and has almost no recoil, so that it can be used with absolute safety and pleasure by women and children!”
This rare set contains a Winchester Model 20 single barrel shotgun that has a Full choke 26 inch barrel with brass bead and standard markings. 2-1/2 inch chamber. Walnut buttstock with uncapped pistol grip and snap on schnable tip forearm. Winchester marked hard rubber buttplate. Accompanied by original black fiberboard carrying case with green lining. Included is a Winchester “Midget Hand Trap” with wooden handle. Also included in this set is three full boxes of Winchester Super Speed 2-1/2 inch .410 shot shells in yellow and red boxes. One box skeet load #9’s and two boxes #5 shot. An original Winchester picture box for 100 midget size clay targets is in the bottom of the case. Barrel retains most all original blue starting to tone. Bore is bright and shiny. Receiver has much of its original blue with wear at high edges and handling marks from use. Buttstock is nicer than average with scattered handling marks. Buttplate is excellent. Action is good. Exterior of case is about average for age. All hardware is present and oxidized. Brown leather-wrapped handle may be replacement but has aged.
