MR1677 ENGRAVED F.V. DREYSE CF BOLT ACTION RIFLE; This finely engraved bolt action rifle features a 27-1/2 inch octagon barrel in caliber 10mm. The barrel has a pair of silver bands at the muzzle. There is an adjustable winged post front sight and an empty rear sight dovetail. “F. v. DREYSE SÖMMERDA” in silver towards the breech indicating it was manufactured under Franz von Dreyse. The receiver has “PATENT” in silver inlay on top and scroll engraving. The rifle is equipped with adjustable double set triggers and floral scroll engraved furniture. Also a nicely sculpted scrolling trigger guard with traces of case colors remaining in the protected areas. Several spots of cleaning on the barrel. Engraved single hook buttplate and sling swivels. The wrist has a golden “furstenkrone/FW” monogram suggesting the rifle was perhaps made for a German prince. The Schnabel tip half-stock has a checkered wrist and large cheekpiece with typical handling mars and dings. The polished bolt has a flat checkered handle. The Dreyse sporting rifles are among the first modern bolt action sporting rifles.
