MR1649 MASSACHUSETTS ARMS CO. SECOND MODEL MAYNARD PERCUSSION CIVIL WAR CARBINE; 20 inch part octagon barrel with G.W.S. stamped on left side. Overall this gun has been treated well over the years. Traces of case colors visible on protected areas of the frame, with the remainder mostly aged to a gray patina. Octagon portion of barrel shows perhaps 50% of blue turning a plum patina. Remainder of barrel is a nice even brownish plum patina. Two stock cartouches visible. Nice solid wood has been freshened some but shows appropriate signs of age and use with a minor repair at the toe. Bright shiny bore with minimal pitting. Good looking old carbine!
