MR1580 U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1899 RIFLE PARTS OR PROJECT GUN; Bolt action Model 1899 Rifle with 22 inch round barrel chambered in 30-40 Krag caliber that has a surprisingly very good bore with strong rifling. Barrel is a splotchy gray with some surface rust in spots. This may be from poor storage. Action has been painted black with spots of flaking and spots of corrosion. Walnut stock has several handling bruises but is solid. “RDR” behind the triggerguard. Action functions fine. Comes with correct rear sight but 1 screw broken off. You would need to remove the front sight to put the nose piece back on and then the sight cover. The wood is salvageable and gun could be reassembled and restored with some time and TLC. There were 36,052 made and this one was made in 1900.
